(Budapest, Hungary / January 19, 2022) In the latest episode of the I Hate Porn podcast, host Tommie McDonald talks to Afghanistan’s only pornstar Yasmeena about her life her porn career.
McDonald said, “Yasmeena is a courageous person. She speaks candidly about the hardships she overcame in Afghanistan under Taliban rule, her strict family life and starting a porn career.”
Yasmeena explains how she gets a lot of hate from other Afghans about her porn movies.
“They don’t want Afghanistan to be known for porn,” says Yasmeena. “They think they own my body and what I can do with my body and I have no right to show it.”
The biggest takeaway from the episode is the impact education has on young girls lives. Yasmeena could not read or write and lived a sheltered existence at home before she moved to the UK aged nine.
“Before this podcast, I knew the Taliban denied girls access to education but I never really understood how that makes you a kind of prisoner,” said McDonald.
“It was inspiring to learn how Western education, including sex education, freed Yasmeena and gave her the confidence to choose whatever life she wanted for herself.
